When Hong Kong’s Yuen Long Theatre needed an upgrade, we worked in partnership with the theatre operators to deliver a state-of-the-art automation system. With a switchable sprung ballet floor and a revolving stage, overlooked by 41 motorized fly bars, the resulting performance area of Yuen Long is a genuine showstopper.

We won the project as the only bidder who could devise a way to install a densely packed flybar winch array and still enable maintenance and regular rope inspections for Hong Kong’s Yuen Long Theatre. We provided above-and-below-stage machinery with upgraded controls to enable a wonderfully diverse variety of performances at this Hong Kong theatre.
The stage wagon, with revolve compensator lift, is a world first. It incorporates a switchable sprung floor for dance performances and an 11-meter-diameter revolving stage. Orchestra lifts, a motorized proscenium, house curtain control, and reconfigurable point hoists complete the package for the Yuen Long, Hong Kong hub for performance and art.
Controls include two TAIT Navigator-powered epiQ consoles, enabling multi-operator shows, plus motion control cabinets and a SIL3 safety system with all of the features required for performer flying. System training and support were supplied by our local team on the ground. Working in close partnership with Harlequin Floors, Hong Kong’s Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), and Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD), we helped to deliver an incredibly flexible performance space that’s built for the long haul.
