Bringing down the curtain on Elton John’s 60-year live career, the five-year Farewell Yellow Brick World Tour was a greatest hits retrospective that celebrated the songwriting mastery of one of the most brilliant musical minds of his generation. TAIT provided innovative scenic props, automation, and staging and sent this visionary songsmith off in style.

We partnered with long-time design collaborators STUFISH to realize this 330-date retrospective of Elton’s storied back catalog. On-stage props included a 60x40ft portal backdrop for this musical trip down memory lane that included scenic elements from Elton’s career, created from photos the artist shared with us. We created 1/6th scale maquettes of each element which our scenic team used to create full-size, high-density foam models that were hard coated with an innovative, multi-stage molding process. Arena shows used a full-frame version of the portal backdrop, while stadiums used a half-frame version.
Our modular Mag Deck system formed the curved mainstage, which featured a piano platform that tracked across the stage and an automated lift – controlled via the TAIT Navigator Automation Platform – that elevated Elton to a hidden door in the video screen to close out the show.
The result was an epic journey through more than half a century of music from one of the most-gifted musicians the UK has ever produced – a fitting send-off for this prodigiously talented songwriter and performer.
