Whilst the majority of Sean O’Casey’s beloved tragi-comic play is set in a single room, the end of the second act requires a dramatic change of scene. Therefore, in collaboration with director Matthew Warchus and set designer Rob Howell, TAIT provided four axes of motion for the new production of this historic masterpiece at the Gielgud theatre, starring Mark Rylance.

Four walls of the set smoothly, slowly and silently glide to new locations using deck tracks whilst flown scenery is elevated by BT2 winches configured for counterweight-assist operation, enabling the in-house flying facilities of the Gielgud theatre to be part of the centralized and safety-interlocked automation operation, via a TAIT Compass controller.
