The Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum showcases the life and legacy of the 37th president of the United States. The National Archives wanted to revitalize the museum’s guest experience and create a fresh, interactive visitor proposition. With storytelling, technology integration, and visitor engagement expertise, TAIT was drafted in to manage the transformation, crafting an exhibition packed with cutting-edge technology and immersive environments to engage and educate visitors.
We designed and produced a stunning exhibition for the museum's new 12,000-square-foot space in Yorba Linda, California. On display is a reproduction of Nixon’s Oval Office, alongside areas dedicated to key moments of the president’s time in The White House, including the Vietnam War, his 1960 and 1972 presidential campaigns, and Watergate. The exhibition starts with the most controversial common knowledge and progresses through the experience with a series of flashbacks–an unprecedented take for Presidential libraries.
A key focus of the work was to engage younger visitors, so we employed technologies such as large, interactive touchscreens to create a powerful, engaging experience for this audience. These interactive elements challenge and educate young minds, cultivating a deeper understanding of this pivotal period in American political history.
The exhibition received praise for its creative approach to historical storytelling, bringing the president’s life, career, achievements, and controversies to life for the next generation and beyond. The museum scores highly among Yelp and Trip Advisor users, with one commenting, “…it's interactive, flows smoothly, and is utterly fascinating”.
