The U.S. State Department chose TAIT as their turnkey partner to design and create a Pavilion that represented the past, present, and future of American innovation at Expo 2020 Dubai.
The 43,000 square feet (4,000 square meters) Expo 2020 USA Pavilion takes visitors on a 20-minute journey through seven immersive exhibits. Highlights include a massive seamless cyclorama with a half-scale projection of the Statue of Liberty’s torch to signal to all that freedom is the virtue that leads to innovation. We curated many authentic artifacts in the Dubai Expo 2020 exhibit to tell the story of curiosity and persistence: like Thomas Jefferson’s copy of the Qu’ran, an early Alexander Graham Bell prototype telephone, and the first ever iPhone playing footage of Steve Jobs himself revealing the product. The Expo 2020 USA Pavilion brought the American cultural timeline together like never before.
The Expo 2020 Dubai exhibits culminate in an 8-minute show projected onto a proscenium suspended 39 feet in the air. The production was the first of its kind to utilize Black 3.0—one of the blackest paints in the world—which gave striking contrast to the brilliant futurist imagery on the projections and the LED screens. Visitors stepped outside to find a full-scale replica of a SpaceX Falcon9 rocket—the second largest object on display at the expo.
A first-of-its-kind moving walkway system was innovated for the Expo 2020 USA Pavilion. The walkway weaved through the first four exhibits, making them more accessible for the 25 million guests who attended the expo.

The story of innovation will never be over, the USA Pavilion at the 2020 Expo exists to prove that. We were excited to rise to the challenge to bring its future and history into the moment, and open millions of eyes to the possibilities that await. Thanks to our clients at the US State Department, and the countless innovators—both highlighted and not—that inspire us.
