Working in close partnership with Sun Group, we provided a one-stop-shop for all automation, including BT2 winches and associated rigging for 48 flybars. We overcame challenging environmental conditions to install overstage equipment, split across two winch rooms, enabling the powered flying of scenery, lighting and the orchestra shell. The local consultant specified single axis drive units for each winch, which were delivered using Kinesys Pulse Drives, which simplify system servicing. Our scope further included below-stage systems including Serapid-driven stage and orchestra lifts. An array of chain hoists and Kinesys Libre load cells were installed for FOH equipment motion, including hanging the line arrays for which the Ho Guom Opera House has gained a reputation for its’ outstanding acoustics.

All machinery automation and safety interlocks are brought together by a TAIT Navigator control system, with epiQ consoles uniting control of all machinery. Bespoke status displays on panels positioned around the backstage areas provide staff with feedback on all machinery. TAIT was also responsible for the design of a trappable stage floor, with Harlequin surface finish.
