The Theater de Maagd in Bergen op Zoom, Netherlands, was looking to modernize its overstage flying system. The theater envisioned an automated system that would help it maximize its creative potential and usher in a new era of innovation. TAIT partnered with the Theater de Maagd to deliver a comprehensive facility that married cutting-edge technology with the theater team’s artistic vision.

We overhauled the theater’s automation technology to our TAIT Navigator Automation Platform, upgrading the rigging system, installing flybars, and introducing the transformative epiQ console. This made it the first theater in Europe to use the state-of-the-art control console.
The partnership further extends into fostering the next generation of theatrical technicians. Starting in spring 2021, theater students and automation specialists at the local Curio educational institution were offered TAIT Navigator training at Theater de Maagd. This program provides students with hands-on training on the Navigator system and the feature-packed epiQ console, learning how intuitively the iQ system operates and controls the Theater de Maagd’s stage machinery. The program equips them with the tools they need to build a career in stage automation.
The Theater De Maagd’s retrofit brings cutting-edge automation technology to a theater with a rich, powerful history. The installation honors the theater’s heritage while bringing its technical capabilities right up to date, enabling the venue to realize its ambitious creative goals.
