Global biopharmaceutical giant Bristol Myers Squibb wanted the lobby in their new innovation hub in Cambridge, MA to have a pivotal storytelling role as visitors made their way into the building. LAB at Rockwell Group, partnered with us to create a captivating visitor experience that would transform the entrance into a powerful first touchpoint for the brand.
The LAB’s concept took the form of a kinetic chandelier centerpiece inspired by microscope lenses, capturing Bristol Myers Squibb’s core mission of ‘transforming patients’ lives through science’.
With 24/7 operation a must, this overhead installation needed to have modern safety standards at its heart while integrating seamlessly with our TAIT Navigator Automation Platform®. We also developed the Kinesys Sculptor Winch; a brand-new low-payload, high-duty cycle compact winch that delivers both the safety and automation requirements and the durability necessary for continuous operation.
This moving kinetic sculpture tells the story of Bristol Myers Squibb’s pioneering work in biopharmaceuticals. Guests are greeted by a kinetic chandelier of brass-framed lenses, moving in sync with the sound waves of patient stories, alongside other modes that evoke the long-term vision of science in this field through a spellbinding rotating double helix of lenses and the relationship that Bristol Myers Squibb shares with its community and locale. The experience celebrates Bristol Myers Squibb's commitment to science, patients, and the people who make up their global community of scientists, collaborators, and supporters.
