In anticipation of the premiere of groundbreaking event series ‘Mars,’ National Geographic Channel unveiled ‘Experience Mars,’ a first-of-its-kind immersive activation which challenged the public to become a ‘recruit’ and experience Mars like never before.
For four days, the corner of Canal and Varick streets in New York City were bustling with space enthusiasts, VR bloggers, media influencers and experience seekers vying for a spot to land on Mars. Once inside ‘Experience Mars,’ recruits climbed aboard the cable coaster, virtual reality simulator and traversed the landscape of Mars, prior to officially touching down.
This was the first example of combining motion with virtual reality and a moving ride in one experience.
